BRISBANE, Australia -- Australia hooker Stephen Moore will be sidelined for the rest of the season after rupturing the anterior cruciate and medial ligaments in his left knee during his first test as Wallabies rugby captain on Saturday. Moore needs a total knee reconstruction after suffering the injury while making a tackle in the 15th minute of Saturdays first test against France at Suncorp Stadium. Australia went on to win 50-23 as Moore, in his 92nd test, watched from the sideline. Wallabies coach Ewen McKenzie said Moores injury "leaves a bit of a void because we had put a lot of things in the pipeline." Lock Sam Carter, who suffered an ankle injury in the seventh minute of his debut test, will also miss the rest of the series. Carter played the full 80 minutes of the match, despite suffering a high ankle strain in the opening minutes. "That really gives you an idea how tough the bloke is," McKenzie said. "He showed great resilience and (the injury) didnt show up at all (in his play)." Flanker Michael Hooper, who replaced Moore as captain for the last 75 mintues of Saturdays match, is likely to retain the role in next weekends second test at Melbourne. Hooper, at 22, became the youngest Wallabies captain in 67 years. If continues as captain for the remainder of the France series -- tests in Melbourne and Sydney over the next two weekends -- he may be accepting something of a poisoned chalice. Since McKenzie took over as coach, Rocky Elsom, James Horwill (three times), David Pocock, Will Genia (twice) and Ben Mowen have all had turns as Australia skipper, and in each case their captaincy was short-lived due to injury or loss of form. McKenzie stopped short of confirming Hooper as captain on Sunday but praised his leadership against France. "He has a style about (his leadership) that I respect," McKenzie said. "It didnt affect his playing, he played exceptionally well and thats part of it too. "I cant think of many players who play as consistently well as he does. I dont think Ive seen him have an off day. He fronts up and is in every game. "Hes a lead-by-example sort of guy and highly respected in the playing group - theyre all good attributes."

(Image via Slapshotnahl) Worst record: The Atlanta Flames were on the wrong end of the playoff record for the fastest three goals scored by one team in a playoff games. The Toronto Maple Leafs scored three goals in 23 seconds – which is absurd – as Darryl Sittler scored twice in 12 seconds and Ron Ellis scored 11 seconds later on April 12th, 1979. (Image via Game Worn Auctions) Best quote: Former Flames goaltender Jim Craig was not happy with the fans in Atlanta, saying ";If I were a businessman Id grab this team and put them in a place thats gonna sell out and have a Stanley Cup within three years.dddddddddddd. Owner Tom Cousins has put us too much time and effort into this to not deserve a winner." The team was sold just two months later. The announcement of the teams impending move: While this video looks at the Flames cup run, there is a good bit on the Cousins saying why he moved the team (spoiler alert, it had to do with money). Last game: The Atlanta Flames were knocked out of the playoffs when the New York Rangers defeated them 5-2 on home ice on April 12th, 1980. Captain: Jean Pronovost (Image via Pinterest) Whyd the move? The team made the playoffs seven times in their nine-year history, so winning wasnt necessarily a problem. Owner Tom Cousins admitted even if they sold out every night they still wouldnt be profitable – the team averaged just over 10,000 fans. Cousins was losing money in his real estate empire and he decided to sell the team to Canadian Nelson Skalania for a cool $16 million dollars. (Image via Biz Journals) What happened to the franchise when they moved to Calgary? The team adopted a similar logo and while it wasnt three years after Jim Craigs prediction, the Flames won the Stanley Cup during 1988-89 season.
