Appearing on “The Lounge” podcast, he revealed that he was nearly traded on a few separate occasions:There was a ton of speculation RG3 may get moved last summer Stitched Maurice Canady Jersey , especially considering his strong play in the preseason and the Ravens depth at quarterback. Looking at the long term viewpoint though, it makes sense that they chose to keep him.At the time, Joe Flacco was the entrenched starter, Jackson was the promising rookie Youth Maurice Canady Jersey , and it was tough to see the immediate fit with Griffin considering Baltimore usually only carries two QBs. However it ended up being a smart long play to hang onto him at both points due to Flacco getting injured and then eventually traded after Jackson played well down the stretch.Griffin seems to fit perfectly as a backup at the moment, so keeping him in the fold definitely seemed to work out well for Baltimore. While it would’ve been interesting to see what he would’ve fetched for compensation, the coaching staff and front office are probably glad to have him around.We’ll see if the draft affects his status with the team in any way now or in the future, but it’s hard not to be happy for Griffin as he looked to possibly be done with football as recently as two years ago.
